Creality Ender 3 S1 Plus

Hi ; first I wish to let you know I am new to the world of 3D Printing , however before I purchased this make and model I spent several days and nights viewing more than 20 hrs of old and new reviews on this 3D printer including a review before it's release and many other printers. Also sorry for the long review but I did this for people who want and I belive need to know as much about this hobby if your completely new to it !!
I chose this one as it was middle of the range price wise for a printer of this type and it has 2 Z axis screws with motors and a timing belt at the top. Also the top of both z axis lead screws are held steady with brackets. The Gantry itself slips into 2 slots when fitted; one on each side of the base of the Printer and held in place with 2 bolts per side. When this model first came out it didn't have the slots on either side for the Gantry which means, the company and their Tech guys have been improving the design. The slots help keep the Gantry more stable and less likely to move. Good thinking.
Additionally this model and several other Enders 3 S1 come with a direct drive extruder and not a Bowen. From what I have read up on and videos I have watched , this type of extruder(Direct Drive or Direct feed) is better for using TPU ( flexible filament) however it's not a true full all metal extruder as it still has a small piece of plastic tubing inside and that is why it is not able to go above 260° ;As the tubing inside can't take that kind of heat for long periods .However there is an upgrade for the Sprite Extruder which will then allow you to reach 300°temps and then allow you to use a wider variety of Filaments Or if you don't need the big build size you could buy the Ender 3 S1 Pro as from memory it is capable of those temps cause it has the upgraded Extruder included. I however wanted the bigger build size. At a later date I will get the upgrade. Speaking of upgrades ; there is more upgrades you can do with these printers as there are many support groups and they are a very popular 3D printer and you can find so many videos on YouTube done by veteran 3D printer enthusiasts showing you how to improve a stock Ender 3 3D Printer ; including this Model and others.
Ok , A little about my experience.
On receiving the Printer I noticed it was well packaged and most of it was already pre assemble which a lot of companies are doing now. I did notice 3 of the Red handled bed leveling nuts had come lose and I say this as one was still on. Not a big issue as it was easy enough to put them back on. Also the hotbed was loose and required tightening and Z axis Gantry rollers needed adjusting. Nothing I couldn't handle after all those videos I had watched in how to adjust them. Please please ; if your new to 3D printing like me watch as many videos on youtube for the Machines your looking at and also on how to adjust their components. It will make your choice easier and give you some understanding in how they work and what you will need to do to get successful prints. There is basically heaps of videos on each thing that can go wrong and how to correct the issue. Anyhow , after I put mine together. Tighten everything and adjustments, I turned on the printer and did a manual bed level about 3 times followed by an autolevel. I tried printing the Bunny print which is on the SD card but as soon as it started laying down melted filament I could tell I hadn't leveled the bed correctly as it basically drizzled it onto the bed from a couple of mms hight. Lol
I Stoped the print instantly, removed the lose filament and then preceded to manually level the bed again. This time when the extruder was in the middle position I adjusted the Z offset of the extruder lower so the nozzle was closer to the bed with the paper between and making sure there was drag on the paper from the nozzle. Not perfect but much better. The biggest issue is the autolevel is only effective with small inconsistencies and I had too big a gap after my first manual level and the auto level could not compensate for that big a difference. Keep that in mind when and if you buy one of these. Yes , I hear you say ; but I can get a fully autolevel machine without leveling nuts on the bed. I thought about buying one of those and maybe one day I will but this machine with give you more hands on experience in how to correctly manually level a bed. Also if the auto level in this machine gives out , you can still use it with manual leveling. However , if you prefer a fully automated system there are 3D printers out there with that if you want a fully plug and play type system. I personally thought it better to learn the ropes and later get a fully auto level machine.
See photo of my first 2 prints.Bunny & calibration cube.
Even though I am new to this ; in my opinion never leave your house with your printer doing a print. 3D printers have been known to catch fire but that doesn't mean this one will but why risk it. Happy 3D prin...

I love my Creality products as I started my printing hobby by preordering my 1st printer being the Ender 3V2. Ive now upgraded to the Ender S1 Plus and had some issues with CR Touch failing and a warped bed and Customer service is a good as it gets. Without hesitation they sent me the replacement parts to get me going. I always will be buying my products from Creality for my needs. Thanks again guys for the great after sales service!!
